Management Practices |
Mission To actively work to improve
the alewife/herring fisheries of the Town River and associated bodies of
water through sound management practices, observance of the regulations, and
public education.
Management Practices
To
establish a firm policy for the passage of migrating alewives/herring, by
reporting regularly to the Board of Selectmen concerning activities and
periodically making recommendations to the Board of Selectmen.
To maintain a healthy, productive fishery by improving population and
monitoring river and pond water flow and quality issues.
To regulate the harvest of alewives/herring.
Administer and expend funds appropriated by the Town or from the Agency
account setup within Town guidelines for purposes related to the
management of the fishery.
To coordinate water flow and quality issues with the agencies, both public
and private, controlling water rights on the Town and Taunton Rivers and
associated bodies of water within the Towns of Bridgewater and West
Bridgewater.
