Bridgewater Historical Commission

The Bridgewater Historical Commission and the Bridgewater Historical Collectors under the direction of Chairman, David Moore have published a book entitled Bridgewater.  It was done through Acadia Publishing as part of their Images of America series.  The book consists of over 230 images of Bridgewater over the last 150 years with captions.  The cost is $19.95 and it is available through many local merchants.
Mr. Moore can be contacted through the Building Inspectors Office at 508-697-0904 or at home at 508-697-5445.  Proceeds from the book go to the Bridgewater Historical Collectors to purchase and preserve items of Bridgewater History for the benefit of the town.

Meetings
Meetings are held on the
3rd Tuesday of each month in the Historical Room
at the Bridgewater Public Library at 6:00 p.m.

All meetings very informal and are open to the public.  The public is strongly urged to stop by anytime or contact members of the commission to assist in the work of the commission. The Commission can only accomplish its goals with the support and assistance of the residents and friends of the town.  No question or item should be considered too insignificant to be of interest to the commission or people doing research in the future.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Bridgewater Historical Commission is the preservation of the history of Bridgewater.  This is done in many ways but not limited to the following:

  1. To encourage the preservation of items that exemplifies life in the town.

  2. To encourage and facilitate others to preserve the history of the town.

  3. To inform others as the history of the town.

  4. To implement all of the powers, rules, goals and regulations as set forth by M.G.L. Chapter 40, section 8D  (Statute by the state empowering the local historical commission).
