The Senior Center offers a variety of services
to the community including:

Medical Services:

Glucose screening and blood pressure with
Partners Home Health Care, VNA
9:00 - 11:00 a.m. on the third Wednesday of every month.
No appointment necessary.

Hearing tests and Hearing aid checks with
Tricia Wilbur
on the last Monday of the month.
You must call 508-697-0929 to make an appointment.

Podiatrist Sarah Derosier is at the Senior
Center approximately every 65 days.

Fuel Assistance:
Transportation:

Dial-A-Bat Services are available to seniors
age 65 and older and anyone who is disabled. The service travels to
locations in Bridgewater, Abington, Avon, Brockton, East Bridgewater, West
Bridgewater, Whitman and Stoughton and to selected Boston hospitals. The
cost of a trip in Bridgewater is $2.00 each way, $3.00 each way to other
towns and $5.00 each way to Boston. Trips to Boston are only on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday. A trip to Boston must be booked two days in advance
before noon and by noon the day before for other trips. Call 508-697-0929

Council on Aging van is available to
transport seniors to the Senior Center for the weekday congregate lunches
and special events.
Nutrition:

Congregate lunches are served Monday through Friday at
noon.
The $2.00 donation for lunch is collected when reservations are made.
Call 508-697-0929 to make reservations by noon on the previous Wednesday.

Meals-on-Wheels are delivered Monday through Friday to
homebound seniors.

Outreach:

The Outreach department assists seniors in
many ways, including Pharmacy and Insurance programs, emergency
assistance, referral to other agencies and assistance with federal and
state programs.

Volunteer coordination including:
-
Transportation and
occasional ride to a doctor’s appointment or treatments.

Friendly visits or phone
calls to elders who are isolated.

Friends of Bridgewater
Seniors is a newly formed organization to help fundraise for a variety of
purposes.
-
Errands, including grocery
shopping, pharmacy runs.
-
Yard work including snow
shoveling, raking and hedge trimming.
-
Meals-on-Wheels delivery.

Caregiver Support Group
Anyone who
is caring for a frail or ill elder is invited to attend the monthly
Caregiver Support Group the last Thursday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to
11:30 a.m. at the Conant
Community Health Center, 5 Wally Krueger Way, Bridgewater. Information and
support regarding caregiving is available. The Caregiver Support Group is
free and open to the public. Light refreshments are served.

Are you OK?
- A free program which features a daily reassurance call from the Plymouth
County Sheriff’s Department to make sure the senior is OK.

S.A.V.E. Program - (Senior Associates Volunteer
Experience) To contract with qualified senior citizens to provide the
benefit of their knowledge and experience and to provide a tax credit for
services rendered. To enhance municipal services by using the skills of
Senior Citizens. To increase Senior Citizen participation in Municipal
Government.

SHINE Program - SHINE Health Insurance
Counselors provide free, confidential and unbiased health insurance
information, counseling and assistance.

TRIAD (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) -
TRIAD aims for public safety for seniors. A cooperative effort of the
Office of Elder Affairs, Bridgewater Police Department, Bridgewater Fire
Department and Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department.
Weekly programs including aerobics, chair
aerobics, painters I and II, line dancing, and craft makers, quilting,
creative writing. Call for information. |
