The Highway Department requests that
residents do not rake leaves from their private property into the roadway.
The Highway Department will pick up leaves that fall on the roadside only.
We will not pick up leaves that have been raked from private property to
the roadside.
Leaves that are raked onto the roadway can clog the street drainage catch
basins and cause flooding problems. This creates an extremely dangerous
condition for which residents may be held liable.
The Board of Health provides a free year-round leaf drop-off area for
residents at the Transfer Station on Bedford Street, provided that you
have a current vehicle sticker issued from the Board of Health.
Transfer Station hours of operation are Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays from
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sundays from
8 a.m. until Noon. Leaves must be emptied from plastic bags.
