Stanley Ironworks on National Register of Historic Places

Thanks to the work of David Moore, Bridgewater Building Inspector and Chair of the local Historical Commission and his father ,the late Ken Moore, Stanley Ironworks has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.  We will keep you informed as more information is received.

If you have not done so already, check out the Town of Bridgewater's new web site, www.bridgewaterma.org.  There is a variety of information to be found, from Town meeting warrants to summer activities for all ages.  Each Town department has its own page with office hours

and telephone numbers.  Various permits  can be viewed and downloaded,.  As well as arts and entertainment information and employment opportunities.  The site is currently under construction with updates performed daily so check back often.

Bridgewater Masterplan Update

Route 104/Plymouth St. Reconstruction Project

Work has commenced on the Rte. 104/Plymouth St. project.  The locale of work is on Plymouth St. from the Hayward St. intersection to the High St./Pond St. intersection.
The project involves full depth reconstruction, widening and construction of new sidewalks and the installation of a new 12" water main. The Master Plan Study Committee has been meeting regularly to review draft chapters of the final Master Plan.  Prior to the hiring of a Dufresne-Henry  consultant for the project, the committee had accumulated quantities of information on the various sections of the overall plan.  Ted Brovitz, project manager for Dufresne-Henry has been working with the committee to transform both this information and the hours of discussion on many Town issues into

feasible alternatives for the Town's future evolution.  The committee will be holding a number of public meetings relative to Land Use revisions.  The schedule of meeting dates and locations can be viewed on the Town's web site www.bridgewaterma.org by looking under committees for the Master Plan Study Committee page.  A preliminary report will be given to Town Meeting on May 6th explaining the progress to date for the Master Plan.

Dana Mohler-Faria, 11th President at Bridgewater State College

Dr. Mohler-Faria was unanimously chosen among many candidates .  He envisions the establishment of a performing arts center, School of Communication, a well developed international program, vital links to regional development and a broad spectrum of distance learning classes and satellite cen

ters within Bridgewater's continuing education operation over the next ten years.  We all wish Dr. Mohler-Faria the best of luck and look forward to the future success of Bridgewater State College.

Congratulations to Dr. Mohler-Faria who will succeed Dr. Adrian Tinsley as the 11th President of Bridgewater State College in July 2002.  Dr. Mohler-Faria has held the position of Vice President of Administration and Finance for the past ten years.
